Majella O'Hagan

Majella was working in Lios na nÓg Childcare setting in Dundalk but wanted to upskill and further her qualifications so enrolled on the BA in Applied Early Childhood Studies followed by the BA (Hons) in Leadership and Management for the Early Years Sector.

A new job opportunity as a Room Leader came up in my workplace and this was the perfect opportunity to improve my professionalism.

Majella did have her doubts about returning to education, in particular with combining her studies with her everyday life.

I have two sons and I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to spend enough time with them. But I found the advice and support I got from the DkIT lecturing team was excellent, and i was able to manage my time.

Majella found that the modules were well linked to the workplace environment.

I found that studying at DkIT empowered me to improve my professionalism. A lot of the theory i learnt was very relateable and really helped me be a more intentional, mindful educator.

The course has also opened up opportunities for Majella in the future.

Opportunities are available to me in areas such as in Management or in the Inspectorate sector, or perhaps doing a level 9 Degree and becoming a lecturer.
