DkIT is committed to improving and changing the world we live in. Our research is responding to some of the most pressing scientific, social and environmental challenges of our time.
Pioneering Innovations in Smarter Living for Older People
NetwellCASALA at DkIT leads Irish trials for ProACT, a €4.67m EU Horizon2020 pioneering health technology project, in conjunction with Trinity College, which will enable older people with multiple chronic illnesses to better manage their illnesses at home.
DkIT’s Smooth Muscle Research Centre (SMRC) leads a pioneering cross-border research project, ‘BREATH’ (Border and Regions Airways Training Hub), designed to better understand and alleviate the impact of lung disease on the border regions of Ireland and Scotland.
Engineering the Development of the Irish Renewable Energy Sector
The SPIRE Energy Project is a cross-border collaborative research project between DkIT and University of Ulster investigating the likely market scales of different capacities of wind energy storage, on the all-Ireland energy market.
We are passionate about research and innovation and believe strongly in its ability to transform the world around us. Our research makes a vital contribution to the economic, social and cultural life of the North East of Ireland and beyond. That is why it is such an important part of our learning and teaching.
