Students from DkIT’s Skills for Independent Living course raise over €1,600 for Save Our Homeless Dundalk

The students were supported on the day by their college mentors who have been fantastic in supporting the group into college life. The students wrote letters asking for support to their families and local businesses and designed posters to raise awareness of the event. There was a fantastic community feeling in the building on the day, with huge support from staff and students, family members and representatives from other support services from Dundalk.

The students were delighted to present a cheque to John Kelly from Save Our Homeless who said they were “blown away by the support shown by everyone involved, especially the students of the programme.”  He said this fundraiser will help them help those in need and the group should be very proud of themselves for creating such a lovely event which brought so many together.

“The event could not have gone any better, the students were an absolute credit to themselves, and their families and we are all very proud of them. There was a great atmosphere on the morning of the bake sale and it was a pleasure to see how excited the students were that they were hosting this event alongside their mentors who have been a fabulous support to them. We were delighted to be able to help such a worthy charity and the students have already started talking about ideas for next year.”
