New play 'Cracks' coming to DkIT sheds light on mental health issues

02 February 2017

DkIT has partnered with Quintessence theatre company to bring its new production of ‘Cracks’ to its campus on Thursday March 30th at 12:30pm in the MacAnna theatre DkIT.

Cracks is a powerful piece of devised theatre from An Tain Arts Centre’s Company-In-Residence exploring the issue of mental illness in Ireland. This darkly comical and deeply moving new play explores a young woman’s journey with anxiety and depression.

Devised by the company and directed by Anna Simpson, a Creative Associate of the Pleasance and Practitioner with the Globe, London, this brand new work seeks to expose the lived experience of battling a severe mental illness in an inefficient and unsympathetic system through the eyes of one young woman.

The partnership came about via DkIT's Student Counselling team who after seeing the performance realised that the play could potentially bring many new insights on mental health to the student population.

The show will take place as part of the Fit4Life programme in association with the DkIT Counselling Service and will commence at 12:30pm, Thursday March 30th in the MacAnna theatre DkIT.

Students can reserve their seats here.
