General Nursing Students in Charity Fundraising for Breast Cancer Awareness
18 October 20243rd year General Nursing students from DkIT recently held their annual Cake Sale and Breast Cancer Awareness fundraising event for the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre, Drogheda, raising an amazing €1270.75 to date.
As part of this event, the students also launched the collection of unwanted bras for recycling in Ghana on behalf of Cross Cause Charity, Blackrock Co Louth, which will continue up until Christmas. The bras will be donated to countries where mastectomy bras are unavailable and local women will update them with sewing machines donated by Crosscause into mastectomy bras.
Alison McCabe from Breastcare by Alison also came and spoke to staff and students about breast cancer awareness.
