First year Built Environment students presented with certificates for demonstrating measured survey skills

11 March 2025

First year students in Architectural Technology, Building Surveying, Construction Management and Quantity Surveying recently competed to demonstrate the skills they have developed from the measured survey 1 module. This module aims to introduce students to basic measured surveying and levelling techniques that are commonly used within the construction industry.

The module focuses on developing skills in reading and interpreting maps, performing linear measurements and levelling surveys, and applying these techniques to set out building positions. Additionally, it emphasises the ability to work independently or as part of a team to effectively plan and carry out surveying tasks.

This is the second year of the competition initiative, and a total of 25 certificates were presented to students who obtained 70% plus in their Measured Surveys 1 Continuous Assessment submission. These certificates were presented to them by their lecturers Keren Goodman, Orlaigh Smyth and Enda Fields.

Additionally, the top four students, one from each Built Environment programme also received prizes sponsored by Building Surveying and Civil Engineering Firm CCDC Ltd, which was founded by two graduates from DkIT Paula Campbell and Alan Carolan. Well done to Kaung Khant Ko Ko, Amy Englishby, David Kiprotich Yator and Ciara McCullagh.

A big congratulations to all the students who achieved outstanding results and were presented with awards.
