First Year Bachelor of Arts Event Management Students Raise €1590 For The KBRT

On Monday, The 18th of November first year Event Management Students held a fundraising event which included a Bake sale & a raffle, in aid of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Fund(KBRT)

The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust aims to alleviate the financial hardship of bereaved families repatriating the body (bodies) of loved one (s) who have died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances back to Ireland.

The KBRT’s main objectives include

  1. To provide financial assistance to bereaved families to repatriate the body (or bodies) of a loved one(s) who died outside Ireland
  2. To maintain the Trust as a permanent legacy of Kevin Bell
  3. To sustain the Trust by having on-going fundraising activities
  4. To recruit members of the Trust to sustain its purpose and ideals

Speaking with the class representative they said

“As a class, we chose the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust as it is relatively local to the college and we felt like it was a great charity to give to, as it helps so many people all across the country and how the charity started up was quite moving to us all and we wanted to help in any way. It touches home with the class, as tragedy could possibly happen to anyone at any stage throughout life, and we are grateful for the trusts efforts to help so many people.  As Events Management 1 class, we were thrilled with the number of funds raised, generously donated by the Students and Staff here at DkIT”

Both Karen Commins & Lorraine Dunne went on to commend their students by stating

“The students were incredible in organising the event, and needless to say the members of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust were delighted with the fantastic sum raised (€1590.64).  Well done to all the students involved in the planning and executing the event”
