EU Erasmus+ “GENIUS” Meeting Hosted in DkIT

04 November 2019

On September 26th and 27th, DkIT’s Department of Visual & Human-Computing hosted an Intra-national meeting of the “GENIUS: Innovative Innovative Interdiciplinary Centextual Education using Games Development“ project group. The GENIUS project is fully funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme. Colleagues from four partner colleges (Centria University of Applied Sciences, Finland; University of Lodz, Poland; Artesis - Plantijn Hogeschool Antwerpen, Belgium and ISPGaya - Instituto Superior Politécnico, Portugal) attended the two-day meeting.

To date, involvement in this major European project has provided an opportunity for 20 students from the BSc (Honours) in Computing in Games Development to participate in two ten-day long intensive mobile app development projects. The two projects took place in Finland and Belgium. A further group of ten second year students from this year’s class will get to travel to Portugal next April to take part in another ten-day long intensive mobile app development project.

During each ten-day long intensive mobile app development project, our students get to work with students from the other four partner colleges. The other students are from various disciplines, such as IT, Graphical Design, Teacher Training, Business and Tourism. The range of student’s study areas and range of participating nationalities stimulates the development of soft competences among all of the participating students.
