Students from Monaghan Institute and O'Fiaich Institute get a taste of DkIT's undergraduate programmes in Architectural Technology and Building Surveying

13 March 2025

The Department of the Built Environment was delighted to welcome Monaghan Institute’s Level 6 Architectural Technology students and Level 5 Renewable Construction Technology students and O’Fiaich Institute’s Level 5 Architectural Technology and Design students, together with their teachers, to a Taster Day featuring DkITs undergraduate progammes in Architectural Technology and Building Surveying programmes.

As part of the event, visiting students participated in an Architectural Technical Design class and were introduced to cutting edge Building Surveying equipment. The visiting students also met Mr. Kevin Hollingsworth, the president of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI) who gave a fascinating presentation on the varied career of a Building Surveyor. Throughout the day, former Monaghan Institute students who are currently DkIT students caught up with former teachers and gave the visitors a student’s perspective of transitioning from FE to HE.

There is an articulation agreement allowing graduates of the Monaghan Institute’s Level 6 Architectural Technology course to progress onto DkIT Level 7 and Level 8 in Architectural Technology or onto DkIT Level 7 and Level 8 in Building Surveying.
