DkIT signs Articulation Agreement with Monaghan Institute to enhance progression routes for Architectural Technology students

04 February 2025

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) recently signed an Agreement to enhance progression routes for graduates of the Architectural Technology Traineeship in Monaghan Institute.

This agreement will facilitate the progression of graduates of the Architectural Technology Traineeship in Monaghan Institute into the 2nd year of the level 7 and level 8 DkIT programmes in Architectural Technology and Building Surveying.  It is the first of a number of articulations the School of Engineering is developing for the further education sector.

The agreement was established in recognition of the success achieved by recent graduates of the Architectural Technology Traineeship at Monaghan Institute, many of whom have advanced their studies through DkIT’s B.Sc. and B.Sc. (Hons) in Architectural Technology. Building on the achievements of these graduates, the agreement seeks to further expand opportunities by incorporating DkIT’s B.Sc. and B.Sc. (Hons) in Building Surveying programmes.

To mark the signing of the agreement, Zara Hall, a student on the Traineeship in Architectural Technology programme in Monaghan Institute spoke about her background and work experience. Zara discussed her decision to return to education and her enjoyment of her current programme of study in Monaghan as well as her eager anticipation of the opportunity to continue her studies further in DkIT.

Dr Diarmuid O’Callaghan, President, DkIT, said:

“We are delighted to partner with Monaghan Institute to support the progression of students in both the Architectural Technology and Building Surveying programmes. This agreement is part of a broader initiative at DkIT to develop articulation pathways that expand opportunities for students in the region. It will also play a key role in strengthening the local workforce, ensuring a strong talent pool for industries in high-demand sectors.”

Martina Rooney, Director of Monaghan Institute said:

“Monaghan Institute is delighted to be part of this new collaboration with DkIT as we continue to focus on enhanced educational opportunities for students in the Monaghan region. Being able to commence the Architecture degree programme in Monaghan Institute brings many benefits to students including, studying closer to home, lower course fees and gaining QQI level 5 and 6 qualifications. Additionally, studying in Monaghan may mean that learners will not require accommodation. We look forward to partnering further with DkIT on more opportunities for our learners.”
