DkIT music students gain industry insights at Output Music Conference in Belfast

Students from the BA/BA (Hons) in Audio & Music Production and the BA/BA (Hons) in Music & Performance Technologies recently attended the annual Output music industry conference in Belfast.

The conference, presented by Belfast City Council / Belfast City of Music and programmed by Score Draw Music, is Ireland’s biggest annual one-day music conference & showcase. The event featuring over 30 workshops, masterclasses, panels and talks across all aspects of the music industry, with speakers including Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol), Nicky Bignell (Head of Music Licensing BBC) and Kim Hawes (Tour Manager Motorhead/Lemmy) among many others.



Students were able to participate in masterclasses and workshops to help enhance their creative skills such as writing, performing or producing music and business skills such as management, marketing or cultivating industry relationships. Panels, led by global music industry leaders, provided the students with insights in to industry trends and potential future career paths.

 Fae Birmingham, a first-year BA/BA (Hons) Music and Performance Technologies student said:

"The trip provided a great opportunity to network and meet important and influential figureheads in the music industry and help grant a deeper insight into the more professional aspects of music as an artform, as well as having an incredibly diverse and interesting selection of panelists and topics."
