DkIT Graduate in Social Care commended in the Global Undergraduate Awards 2018

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) Graduate of the BA (Hons) in Social Care Padraic Geoghegan, has been commended by the 2018 Global Undergraduate Awards scheme for his submission "Building Resilience in Young People within a Residential Care Setting" within the Social Sciences: Sociology & Social Policy category of the awards which received entrants from across the globe. 



Following Padraic’s achievement his research supervisor, DkIT’s Dr. Bernadette Brereton, (Acting) Programme Director in DkIT’s Social Care programme, has now been invited to join the Undergraduate Awards panel of judges across hundreds of international institutions in the Social Sciences: Sociology & Social Policy category to judge the Global Undergraduate Awards 2019. Every year, the Global Undergraduate Awards scheme award exceptional undergraduate coursework based on the assessments of panels of esteemed judges across hundreds of international institutions.  The School of Business and Humanities and the Department of Humanities are delighted that one of DkIT’s 2018 Social Care graduates, Padraic Geoghegan, has been commended for his submission "Building Resilience in Young People within a Residential Care Setting" in the Social Sciences: Sociology & Social Policy category.

At a ceremony held in DkIT to congratulate Padraic on his success Padraic’s supervisor, DkIT’s (Acting) Programme Director in Social Care Dr. Bernadette Brereton said:

I am extremely proud of what Padraic has achieved, it is great that his hard work has not gone unnoticed. I hope this will encourage other students to put themselves forward and submit their work as it is a great opportunity for students to gain confidence and recognition for their work. It is also a great way to add to and differentiate your CV from other candidates.”

Padraic who is from Lough Egish, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan Padraic commented that:

The support I was given throughout my time in DkIT was brilliant and the BA (Hons) in Social Care has definitely equipped me for my career path. It's nice to have your work recognised and I'm very grateful to the help I received from DkIT in completing my project and in particular my supervisor Bernie Brereton” 

 

Students can submit their research for consideration for this year’s awards here. There are many categories of study awarded and the deadline is 11th June, 2019.
