DkIT Computing Students take part in Intensive Project in Lodz, Poland

11 September 2023

9 students from across various computing degree programmes within the two computing departments in DkIT took part in an eight-day-long intensive coding project in Lodz, Poland. The theme of the project was “Towards 15-minute Eco City”.

The project ran from 3rd September to 10th September 2023, inclusive.

Apart from the host college and DkIT, the project also included students from ISPGAYA (Portugal) and Université d'Artois (France).

Before the physical project, the students were put into international teams. By mixing students from the four colleges on each team, the participating students gained experience working in a diverse international team as well as in intercultural communication. During the three months before the project, the students worked and communicated virtually to brainstorm and design their app idea.

During the project, the task of each team was to create a prototype of software or service connected to the theme of the project. As well as enhancing their coding, the focus on the theme of “Towards 15-minute Eco City” increased the participants’ awareness about crucial problems connected with the environment and climate.

On the second and last days of the project, the students gave formal presentations of their work. The final presentation included a business plan and a prototype app. The presentations helped to increase the students’ communication skills,
