DkIT Computing Students Code Self-Driving Autonomous Robots in Poland
30 September 2024A group of ten students from year 2 and year 3 of the BSc (Honours) in Computing in Software Development took part in a week-long intensive coding project in Lodz, Poland. The project ran from 15th September to 22nd September 2024 saw DkIT students work with students from ISPGAYA (Portugal) and the University of Lodz (Poland).
The objectives of the project were for students to work in international and multidisciplinary teams, and for students to increase their competencies in robotics and AI. The project focused on group programming of self-driving autonomous robots. The project increased the students’ technical skills connected with the usage of AI in robotics.
The students gained experience of working in diverse international teams. This allowed the students to develop their soft skills, such as communication and inter-cultural interaction. It also increased their skills connected with group problem solving.
The students took part in online workshops and preparation sessions prior to their arriving in Lodz for the physical project. This helped them to be prepared for the intensive coding week in the physical project. It also helped them to develop their digital communication skills.
International projects strengthen cooperation between the partner colleges, as they facilitate the exchange of knowledge and good practices between the academic staff who participate in a project.
