DkIT Celebrate Student Ambassadors
16 July 2024DkIT congratulated and gave heartfelt thanks to all their student ambassadors at a recent lunch. Dr Moira Maguire, Head of Learning and Teaching in DkIT kicked off the proceedings and thanked the student ambassadors for their time and for their freely given support to new students starting out on their journey at the Institute.
Moira then introduced DkIT president Dr Diarmuid O’Callaghan, where he recognised the enormous efforts and contribution these students give to the Institute’s 1st year student induction. He said,
“We are so grateful for all our student ambassadors who give their time and wisdom so generously, whilst creating positive experiences for the first-year students and indeed, induction would not be a success without them”.
Margaret Ward, Digital Skills Learning Advisor (SLDC) also thanked the students, Margaret said,
“Each year our student ambassadors never cease to amaze everyone in DkIT with their enthusiasm and commitment. We are delighted to acknowledge these students who give up their time to make the induction programme so successful. The feedback each year is always so positive, its so important for us to have students talking and supporting new students. Student ambassadors are not just tour guides on college campus, they are the first people to meet the new student cohort and they provide the first impression of what students DkIT experience will be like. If a student ambassador succeeds in making students feel comfortable and welcomed, then they have fulfilled their main responsibility”.
Student Ambassadors are nominated by their lecturers and are chosen for this role because they are current students who are highly active both academically and socially. They are passionate about student life, enthusiastic and spirited about sharing their experiences with new and prospective students.
A super congratulations to all our student ambassadors, well done and a massive thank you from everyone at DkIT.
