DkIT Annual Spring Choral Concert
04 April 2017DkIT Ceol Oirghialla's annual Spring Choral Concert takes place on Thursday 6 April in St Nicholas' (Green) Church, Dundalk at 7.30pm.
The concert features DkIT Choir and Chamber Choir who will perform a selection of choral pieces by Gjeilo, Allegri and Farrell. The membership of DkIT Choir, directed by Mr David Stalling and Ms Annalisa Monticelli, is drawn from the student body within the Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music. DkIT Chamber Choir, directed by Dr David Connolly, is comprised of students specialising in choral singing as part of their degrees and they will perform a selection of a capella repertoire by Farrant, Schubert and Pitoni. The study of vocal music on the BA (Hons) Applied Music allows students the opportunities to develop vocal technique and repertoire, and being a member of a choral group helps build musicianship skills including ear training, rhythm and sight singing while developing the skill of singing as part of a larger ensemble. There will also be music from the Classical ensemble, who will be premiering a piece by Australian composer David Basden, and also the Guitar ensemble who play a suite by Mattheson.
As always we enjoy bringing our music at Dundalk Institute of Technology to the community as part of our ongoing outreach programme. As the final public concert of the academic year in Dundalk by our performing groups, our Spring Concert is an opportunity for us to reflect on another tremendously successful year for our Department as we celebrate many national and international performances, showcases, screenings, awards and the development of exciting initiatives involving national and international collaborators.
All welcome to attend. For reservations contact music@dkit.ie or 0429370280
