Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music Visiting Guest Series Continues with Arranger and Musical Director Fiachra Trench

The Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music Visiting Guest Series Series continues next week on Thursday 6 April at 2pm in P1079 with a workshop by the distinguished string arranger and composer Fiachra Trench. Fiachra will facilitate a workshop on techniques and approaches to string arranging, drawing upon decades of experience as a distinguished arranger, composer and musical director in the worlds of film, TV and popular music. 

As an arranger/musical director Fiachra has worked with many rock, pop and folk performers, including Altan, Paul Brady, Kate Bush, The Corrs, The Boom Town Rats, The Chieftains, Elvis Costello, Phil Lynott, Paul McCartney and Van Morrison. String arranging credits include the hit songs "I Don't Like Mondays" and "Fairytale of New York". He has also scored and composed music for films including Pearl HarborThe BoxerThe Ring and The Tailor of Panama. In 2014 he was awarded an honorary diploma, Licentiate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
