Creative Project Illuminating Inclusivity Wins DkIT Graduate Award
12 June 2023Sioneen Morgan from Co Monaghan recently won best project at FIS 2023. This year’s showcase, FIS 2023, featured the creative and innovative work of students from the BA and BA (Hons) Creative Media course. The winning project by Sioneen was a children’s book called 'Cheering with Jay'.
This project illuminated the importance of inclusivity in society. It delved into the personal journey of an individual who identifies as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community from a young age. Through Jay's fictional story, the reader witnessed an exploration of self-discovery and the profound significance of the character embracing their authentic self. This assignment offered a thought-provoking exploration of personal growth and the complexities of identity.
JJ Quinlan, Creative Media Lecture DkIT said,

These students have showed resilience, great creativity and technical skill. Sioneen’s project won because it was a brave project to do, it was well executed and showed great research.”
