Applications now open for paid Summer Studentships at DkIT

26 March 2019

Dundalk Institute Technology (DkIT) Student Services team and the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching are seeking applications from current undergraduate students for summer scholarships. There are 6 opportunities which are open to all current undergraduate students at any stage of their studies.

Successful candidates will collaborate with staff and the Students’ Union on the project Partners in employability: A student-staff collaboration to develop an award to recognise the skills developed by active student engagement. This is funded by the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning.

The studentships offer an excellent opportunity to learn more about higher education and develop skills in curriculum design, team-work, communication and leadership. Up to 6 studentships will be awarded. Each studentship will last 6 weeks and will attract a stipend of €1,200 in total, i.e. €200 per week. Students will be expected to engage with the project approximately 24 hours per week. The studentships will involve learning about employability, curriculum design and assessing learning and applying these skills to work with staff to develop a short academic programme (course) and a number of embedded digital badges.

The project seeks to recognise and evidence the learning that students gain through engagement with college life.  Examples of engagement include acting as class representatives, student ambassadors, volunteers, sports and societies officers etc.

The studentships will begin on the 1st of June 2019.  To apply: Please complete the short application form available here. Completed forms should be emailed to studentservices@dkit.ie including ‘Studentship’ as the subject line, by 5pm Wednesday, 10th April 2019.

If a large number of suitable applications are received, candidates may be shortlisted for interview and interviews will take place on 3rd May 2019. Successful candidates will be notified by the end of the first week of May.
