Another top 10 finish for the DkIT ACM student chapter
15 March 2018DkIT Computing and Games Development Students once again took part in the annual Irish Collegiate Programming Contest (IRLCPC) in Cork. It is an annual national-wide competition organized by ACM UCC, where teams are presented with a number of complex programmatic problems and endeavor to come up with solutions within four hours.
This year DkIT had four teams at the event. These were led by Minh Thu Le, chairperson of the DkIT ACM Student Chapter, and two school mentors: Janina Althofer and David McQuaid. Competing against nearly 50 teams from most third level instructions in Ireland, DkIT once again did itself proud.
It was team “Potato.hashcode v.1.2.3” who led the way the DkIT teams with an impressive 10th place finish. Our other teams also finished well up the rankings. DkIT have been competing at the IRLCPC for several years now and we look forward to continued success in the future.
Many thanks to everyone for their assistance and support throughout the course of the competition, especially: ACM Student Chapter; mentors, David and Janina; the IT Learning Center; all staff from the two Computing departments especially Dr. Caroline Sheedy and Dr. Derek Flood; and the Sports and Societies office.
Congratulations to the competing DkIT students for their commendable efforts.
