A ‘Headstart’ Back into Education with DkIT, now enrolling for September 2025

21 May 2025

Have you ever thought about getting back into education and applying for college? Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) in collaboration with Louth Local Development have the perfect course for you! The ‘Headstart’ programme has been specifically developed and designed to assist your journey back into learning and formal education with ease.

The Headstart Programme is a 10 week course that runs on the DkIT campus. It offers participants the opportunity to build essential academic skills and grow their confidence in a supportive, welcoming environment. A few of the key reasons you might want to consider this programme:

  • Classes in DkiT are in a warm, engaging and non-judgmental environment
  • 1-2-1 support to overcome any obstacles that may stand in your way
  • Classes will focus on the main study skills you will need for college
  • 1-2-1 guidance on careers and applying for college
  • Designed to build confidence and break down barriers

One of the programme’s key strengths is its one-to-one engagement with lecturers, allowing learners to get tailored support and guidance based on their personal learning needs. It also offers a clear overview of the different entry pathways to college at DkIT, including help with the application process. The programme is open to everyone, whether you’ve been out of education for a few years or have never considered college before. If you’ve ever thought that higher education wasn’t an option for you, Headstart is your opportunity to take the first step.

Classes start on Wednesday 3rd September 2025, and run every Wednesday for 10 weeks, from 10 am to 1 pm.
