DkIT Student Services

The Student Services Centre in the Faulkner Building provides a range of personal support to students attending the Institute and aims to provide both advice and practical supports in a wide variety of circumstances.

Your college experience is about more than your course, it is about starting the next chapter of your life – your new world. At DkIT you have the chance to grow academically and personally, meet like-minded people and work towards achieving your dreams. Our job is to help you do this.

Disability Services & Support

Our Disability Office provides supports and advocates on behalf of any student with a physical, sensory, learning disability, or has a mental health condition that has a negative impact with the learning process.

The DkIT Sports & Societies Office runs over 65+ student-led clubs and societies so whether you want to pursue an existing interest or try something completely new, there is something for everyone – from football to politics, photography to horse-riding, dance to fashion, and even circus arts!

We offer a professional and confidential health & medical service via our on campus health centre. The centre includes a free nursing service and access to a doctor at scheduled times throughout the week.

Student Finance Supports

Our staff will advise you on financial matters to help you manage your money better. They provide budgeting consultations and can provide access to financial support for students in financial hardship.

Counselling

The Student Counselling Service is a confidential service provided free of charge to all registered students at DkIT.

The service is offered by a team of counsellors and psychologists, all of whom are fully trained and accredited with relevant professional bodies (e.g. IACP, PSI).

Student Learning and Development Centre

Welcome to the Student Learning & Development Centre. We are here to help you with all aspects of academic skills, keep on top of your studies and maximise your potential during your time at DkIT.

Maths Learning Centre

Build your confidence in mathematics with this free service open to all DkIT students. The centre provides additional Mathematics support and services including  'drop-in' sessions, small group workshops on specific topics & one-on-one support sessions.

IT Learning Centre

A tutor-supported study environment available to all Computing students in DkIT. It is an open resource to students covering a wide range of computing topics such as programming, mathematics, networking, web development and much more.

Accommodation

While our campus is predominantly a commuter campus, the DkIT Students Union provides students with support and advice around the accommodation. There is a selection of accommodation options available to students.

Mature Students

DkIT welcomes mature students, both full-time and part-time. We encourage applications from mature students (aged 23 and over). We are here to ensure your life skills and work experience are taken into account as much as your academic qualifications.

Student Engagement and Support Strategy 2020—2022

Student Support is a collaboration of services involving many areas of the Institute community including Student Services, Students Union, Student Learning and Development Centre, Academic Schools and Administration. The Strategy for Student Support, is vital to the overall delivery of the Institutes Strategic Priority for Excellent Teaching and Learning and Quality of Learner Experiences and operates in partnership with the LTA sub strategy.
