Pass (PS): All modules have been passed (including Pass by Compensation – these grades will have a “P” beside them, e.g. 35P, 36P etc.)
Approved to Progress (AP): Approved to Progress entitles students to register for the
next stage of the programme in September of the next Academic Year, with a credit deficit. However, they are still required to pass the failed module(s) within the next
Academic Year.Exceptional Progression (EP): Exceptional progression entitles students to register for the next stage of the programme in September of the next Academic Year, with a credit deficit. However, they are still required to pass the outstanding module(s) within the next Academic Year.
Exemptions Granted (EX): This means that exemptions have been gained (module(s) passed) in the modules indicated on the statement as Exempt and these modules do not need to be retaken. However, students are required to retake all other module(s) in order to complete this stage of studies.
Credits Gained (CG): This is used where credits have been gained on either a microcredential or an individual module.
Deferral (DE): This means that a final decision on results cannot be taken until students have met the full course requirements, by presenting for those modules indicated by Deferral. Students must also present for any modules indicated by Fail.
Incomplete (IN): This result is only used if all modules in an Academic Year have not yet been graded (i.e. where a student has not attempted all the required modules in the stage or where due to COVID-19 emergency there was a delay in the provision of the assessment).
Credit deficit (CD): This means a student cannot progress, because of an uncleared credit deficit from a previous stage and has gained 60 credits in the current stage.
Fail (FL): This means that a student has failed to achieve any exemptions and must retake all modules before the stage can be completed.
Absent (AB): This means that a student has not attended for any final examinations but has not formally withdrawn from their programme of study.
