IT Information for New Students

Registration

When you begin registration, you will be asked to configure MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) to manage your user account security. 

Check out our weblink  www.dkit.ie/MFA and follow instructions on the Video to setup the authentication service. 

After you have registered on MFA you will be able to manage password changes directly from your mobile device (SSPR) and access all online services externally off-campus as a Student user.

Please note: it can take up to 24 hours before all services are active after registering. 

Other Useful Info

  • Wireless Access / Wi-Fi 

    Your User Account (eg D900012345@dkit.ie) will allow you to log on to the wireless network on Campus ‘Eduroam’. 

    The WiFi services is available in all teaching areas on campus and is provided by eduroam, a secure, world-wide roaming Wi-Fi access service developed for the education community.

    Please note that WiFi Access is treated as an external service.  

  • Email /Microsoft 365 Access 

    Your user account is your identifier for your college email account which can be accessed by going to https://webmail.dkit.ie

    This user account will also allow you to log onto Microsoft 365 apps and services. Visit My Microsoft Apps

  • OneDrive 

    As part of your Email Account, you also have Access to your own Online Storage Space in One Drive. OneDrive can be accessed on any device and can also be accessed off Campus so it is important to save all your College files to it so you can access them at Home.  

    Whenever you log onto a PC on Campus your One Drive Storage will appear as the O: drive on the PC. For further information see OneDrive FAQ's in our guides section.

  • Moodle 

    Your Account can also be used to log into our Online Educational Resource at https://moodle.dkit.ie   

    Moodle will use Microsoft Authentication to login from 2024 onwards and may require the use of the Microsoft Authenticator app when both on campus and off campus.

  • PC Access 

    Your Account will allow you to logon to any PC located in the Computer Labs or the General Access PCs in the Library. 

  • Software available to Students

    • Dundalk IT Students are entitled to install Microsoft Office for free via your Email/Microsoft365 account. To avail of this go to https://officeproplus.dkit.ie
    • Students can also get access to discounted Microsoft and Adobe software by going to https://dkit.onthehub.com and Signing in with their Email address. 
    • Students can also avail of significant discounts on hardware, software, and other digital resources on the HEAnet Store. Visit HEAnet Store
  • Print/Copying services 

    Print/Copying services are provided by the college shop and managed by Cantec Ltd.

    Use your Student ID card to access print services across campus. User instructions are available at print areas. If you require assistance with these services please contact the print engineer located on first floor in the Library. Credit top-up is available on the Uniflow service outlined in the guide above. 

     

  • Managing your Account

    We would recommend that you setup the Microsoft authenticator app (see www.dkit.ie/MFA ) to allow you to manage your password credentials. This puts you in control of your password management from your mobile device. 

    On a desktop login by hitting Ctrl-Alt-Del and select Change Password. It is advisable to change your password on a regular basis - usually 90 Days. This password change will affect access to all systems. 

    Students have many options to change their passwords, either On-Campus or Online.
