President’s Prize for Enterprise
This is an annual award offered to the top enterprise student from across the institute. The following students from the Department of Electronic & Mechanical Engineering have won the award:
- 2019 = Cormac Barry from Mechanical Engineering
- 2018 = Warren Stevely from Engineering Entrepreneurship
- 2017 = John Small from Engineering Entrepreneurship
- 2016 = Mark Travers from Engineering Entrepreneurship
The Peter Rice Medal
This is a competition run on an annual basis across the School of Engineering. It is run in conjunction with Engineers Ireland. An external panel of Judges with diverse engineering backgrounds who select the winning student based on his or her project.
The competition entails presentations and poster displays which act as a showcase of student project work from across the school. In addition, the event offers students a valuable insight into the conventions associated with and value of professional conferences and networking events.
The competition is called after a famous structural engineer from the Dundalk region. He is famous for notable designs such as the roof of the Sydney Opera House, The George Pompidou Center in Paris, Lloyd's of London, and Stansted Airport.
Previous winners of the competition are honoured by having their names inscribed and displayed on a wall mounting, hanging in the Engineering foyer of the institute.
