Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music Visiting Guest Series Continues with Arranger and Musical Director Fiachra Trench

The Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music Visiting Guest Series Series continues next week on Thursday 6 April at 2pm in P1079 with a workshop by the distinguished string arranger and composer Fiachra Trench. Fiachra will facilitate a workshop on techniques and approaches to string arranging, drawing upon decades of experience as a distinguished arranger, composer and musical director in the worlds of film, TV and popular music. 

DkIT Music Lecturer on Tour

DkIT Lecturer and Composer Dr Neil O’Connor will be performing at this year’s SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas, from 16-20 March 2016. He is part of an Irish delegation supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and Culture Ireland. Showcase performances include a show at the British Embassy, Austin. Furthermore, on 13 March, at the 'International Festival for Artistic Innovation 2016' at the University of Leeds, his Electro-Acoustic piece 'Erstwhile' will be diffused. This piece premiered last November at the InTime New Music Festival at the University of Coventry. Neil lectures in the areas of music production and composition on BA(Hons) Production of Music and Audio, Diploma in Composing for Games and is currently supervising students working on composition portfolios for MA and PhD by Research.

Successful CMC Music Marathon at DkIT Highlights Ireland’s Creative Talents

On Thursday November 5th, the Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music at DkIT hosted the Contemporary Music Centre's 2015 New Music Marathon. Participants attended from all over Ireland and took part in two concerts of fresh, inspiring new music from the next generation of Irish composers. The concerts featured composers and performers from the University of Ulster, Magee (Derry); NUI Maynooth; University of Limerick (UL) and here at DkIT.
