BEng in Mechanical Engineering

“It was great to get out into workplace and see what I had learnt being put into practice in industry. This placement opened the door and I was then able to work for the next 2 years in Combilift part-time, to further my experience."

I am currently a Design Engineer in Combilift but I began my studies with a Level 7 Degree in Mechanical Engineering. As part of
this course I had a work placement in year 2, that I did in Combilift. It was great to get out into workplace and see what I had learnt being put into practice in industry. This placement opened the door and I was then able to work for the next 2 years in Combilift part-time, to further my experience.

After competing my Level 7 degree I decided to do a Level 8 top-up in Sustainable Design. Another benefit of the course at DkIT was the element of teamwork, even outside of your own degree. I collaborated with Business students for one project and we took a project from research and design to manufacture and marketing. This has helped me work with teams on projects in industry, andgiven me skills that I still use at Combilift.”
