BA in Sport Exercise and Enterprise

"For me, the best thing about DkIT is the sense of community. You feel part of everything and it’s easy to get to know people. The sports scholarship is also really beneficial to me, it allows me to continue playing GAA at a competitive level and get my degree. I feel the support we get is second to none."

Conor Magennis, from Killeavy, Co Armagh is a 1st year student in BA in Sports Exercise and Enterprise and is a GAA Sports Scholar.

"The aim of my sports marketing project was to create an innovative sports business idea from scratch. For this I designed and created a company that specialises in the manufacture of high quality sports gloves which are customisable to a sports club’s individual crest and colours. As part of the project I developed stronger communications skills because I had to present my business model to the entire class. I learned about the many different entrepreneurial elements involved in starting a business from the ground up. It’s fair to say that I now realise how much thought and research is involved in creating a new product. It’s definitely all about the small details!"

"I chose DkIT because it appealed to me the most out of the other colleges I visited and it was only 15 minutes down the road from my house. I had opportunities to study in Belfast with a Sports Scholarship too but I just didn’t think it would be for me. I knew that I would be sitting in a class of hundreds and nobody would know each other. I just didn’t want that. I liked that I would be able to get more 1-to-1 time with the lecturer. I came to the DkIT Open Day and spoke to lecturers that I have now. They really sold the course to me."

"Applying as a Northern Ireland student was easy. I applied through CAO and followed the steps. It literally took me 30 minutes. It definitely gave me more options when my results arrived."
