Neha Gupta

Neha Gupta

Neha is a PhD student, originally from Delhi India and joined the SMRC in September 2022. Neha's PhD centers on investigating the ionic mechansims that control the contractility of urethral tone and reponses to nerve stimulation.

Mitchell Mercer

Mitchell Mercer

Mitchell is a PhD student who joined the Smooth Muscle Research Centre in 2022. His project investigates how the corpus caveronosum, the smooth muscle of the penil erectile tissue is modulated by calcium and voltage dependent pathways.

Alexandru Mircea

Alexandru Mircea

Alex joined the SMRC in summer of 2022 as a PhD student. He studies how mitochondria calcium handling and calcium influx pathways control agonist evoked contractions of bladder smooth muscle.

Neeraj Palakurthy

Neeraj Palakurthy

Neeraj joined our laboratory in seummer of 2022 as a PhD student. Neeraj studies the expression and electrophysiological function of regulatory subunits (LINGO) of large conductance potassium channels.

Zainab Baig

Zainab Baig

Zainab is currently investigating the electrophysiogical signatures of LINGO subunits for her PhD. She uses patch clamp electrophysiology and mutagenesis to study specific protein residues of LINGO provide regulator functions to large conductance potassium channels.
