Applying for Funding

A number of support tools are available to researchers to assist them in identifing suitable funding sources and in ensuring any proposal application meets eligibility criteria prior to submission.  These tools include Research Professional and SmartSimple

Research Professional enables users to:
Review all National, European and International funding calls
Personalise the service allowing users to set up email alerts of funding opportunities or news in specific areas of interest
Share resources with other users where users can set up a list of leading funders in a specific research area and share it with colleagues in their department

SmartSimple is DKIT's on-line research proposal development and management system.  Research staff who are intending to submit an application for funding from internal or external (National, EU or International) sources are required to use the system. SmartSimple ensures that the researcher obtains the necessary information regarding any funding or research proposal and that researchers consider all elements of a research proposal. In addition to collecting information concerning the financial and resource implications of the proposal, the research management system also ensures that proposals have been reviewed by and received the necessary approvals (e.g. Finance Officer, Head of School and Head of Research) prior to submission to the funding body.

Before completeing a submission for funding researchers must review DKIT policies on Ethics, Open Access Publication, Budget and Intellectual Property and Commercialisation of Research.
