Dr Róisín Loughran is the Manager of the Regulated Software Research Centre.

Prior to joining the RSRC, Dr Loughran was a senior Post Doctoral research at the Natural Computing Research and Applications group in UCD. Dr Loughran's research expertise lies in the application of natural computing methods, such as evolutionary algorithms and neural networks, to creative challenges such as automous music generation. She has writtne and presented extensively on the topic of what it means to be creative and how automous machines (or AI) may exhibit creativity.  

Her current research interests are focussed in the ethical application of AI and ML, particauly in relation to the identification and mitigation of negative bias in the application of such methods in our society.
