DkIT offers a variety of flexible Part-time and Springboard+ professional development programmes in the area of Creative Media & Arts from Certificate to Higher Diploma level.

Our skills-focused courses are designed in conjunction with industry and include a blend of online and in-class learning to help you manage your studies alongside other life commitments.

Courses

Higher Diploma in Science in 3D Computer Animation

This 2-year part-time course is designed for existing level 8 graduates from either a technical or an artistic discipline who wish to upskill for the animation industry and other divergent industries in which animation expertise is key. It is the only course of its kind in Ireland and it aims to give graduates a detailed knowledge and understanding of the creative, developmental and programming strands within the 3D computer animation discipline and also make them skilled in the use of a range of 3D animation applications.

Certificate in 2D & 3D Digital Animation Production

This one-year part-time course aims to provide students with a strong grounding and transferable skills in Digital Animation Production processes, a solid understanding of the Production Pipeline and techniques for both 2D and 3D. This course will provide participants with the required knowledge, skills and competency to assist them in gaining employment in the Digital Animation Production industry.

Higher Diploma in Science in Augmented and Virtual Reality Development

The Higher Diploma in Science in AR and VR Development is an NFQ Level 8 two-year part-time course that will provide students with the knowledge, skills and competencies to design, develop and evaluate immersive user experiences with virtual, augmented and mixed reality technologies. The course is developed with the support of a range of companies and organisations working in the field of immersive technologies.

Certificate in Irish Traditional Music Studies

This short programme introduces students to the rich and varied musical heritage of Ireland with a particular focus on the Oriel Region. This makes for a unique programme, attractive to those with a strong interest in Irish music and culture. As well as historical content, students have the opportunity to learn to perform music, song and dance from the region and understand the repertoire in context and visit significant musical spaces in the region. The programme also includes fieldwork opportunities.

Certificate in Sound Design and Implementation for Interactive Media

This 1-year part-time programme is designed for anyone wanting to upskill their practical and technical skills of Sound Design and Implementation for Interactive Media.

Certificate in Digital Media Design

This course (funded by Springboard+) will give students extensive knowledge, understanding and competencies across a wide range of digital media design principles and practices including: digital media design theory, creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation, digital marketing and digital animation.

Postgraduate Diploma in Technical Direction for Computer Animation Production (Part-time)

The Post Graduate Diploma in Science in Technical Direction in Computer Animation is designed to encompass computer graphics and animation skills with a greater emphasis on the production pipeline workflow as well as managing the pipeline from an asset management systems perspective which evolves from a digital asset only creation. The tool building aligns with a benefit of the whole production and not solely a specific artist skillset.

Certificate in User Experience (UX) Design

The aim of the Certificate in User Experience (UX) design course (funded by Springboard+) is to give students extensive knowledge, understanding and competencies across a wide range of user experience design principles and practices including: User Experience design theory, creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation, digital visual communication and web design fundamentals.

Full Time Courses

Postgraduate Diploma in Immersive Technology (Full-Time)

Virtual and augmented reality applications are set to transcend all industries and are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Our understanding of how people can usefully navigate and interact within immersive environments will also evolve, leading to the creation of more natural methods of interacting and exploring immersive space. The Postgraduate Diploma in Immersive Technology is a brand-new course and will be delivered as an online, one-year, full-time, level 9 programme and funded via Springboard+ (Human Capital Initiative Pillar 1). The aim of this programme is to produce graduates with the knowledge, skills and competencies to plan, design, develop and evaluate immersive user experiences using virtual, augmented and mixed reality tools, technologies and appropriate programming languages.

Springboard+ Courses

Springboard+ offers opportunities for FREE places on a variety of courses leading to awards at certificate, degree and post-graduate level. The majority of courses are part-time for a maximum of 12 months and are open to all eligible applicants regardless of their employment status.
