The Round Table is a programme dedicated to nursing, midwifery and healthcare discussion. Discussion centres around current issues of the day. The presenter of this programme is John Mc Donald.
John McDonald commenced Nurse Training in 1985 and registered as a Psychiatric Nurse, General Nurse and Mental Handicap Nurse. He obtained a BNS (Nurse Tutor) qualification from UCD in 1999, and an MSc in Applied Healthcare Management in 2002, also from UCD.
He has worked for a number of years in clinical care nursing and nurse education in a variety of settings, such as, James Connolly Memorial, Blanchardstown, St. Ita’s, Portrane St. Joseph’s, Clonsilla and with the North Eastern Health Board in their regional school of nurse education. He has also work abroad in the United Arab Emirates in the clinical area. He has extensive experience of healthcare management in both the public and private healthcare sector.
His research interests include inter agency collaboration, child and adolescent psychiatry and health services management and related issues. He is currently working as a lecturer in Nursing in Dundalk Institute of Technology (DKIT).
In this programme John McDonald introduces a "live" lecture by Derek Pepper (Shine) to nursing students in relation to schizophrenia. Derek works for the Shine organisation (formerly schizophrenia Ireland).
