Staff Workshop on Transversal Skills Sponsored by N-TUTORR
11 November 2024Over recent weeks, staff members at DkIT have participated in two insightful workshops focused on Transversal Skills. Sponsored and supported by N-TUTORR and led by Life Coach Eileen Dunne from Carbon Coaching, the events aimed to empower staff with vital competencies to enhance their personal and professional growth and to better support students by developing their own emotional awareness and self-management strategies.
The workshops looked deeply at the brain’s response to threats, emphasising how modern stressors trigger survival mechanisms similar to those used by our ancestors. One of the central themes of the sessions was understanding the role of emotions, particularly how core emotions like fear, sadness, and joy influence behaviour. The Change Triangle framework was introduced, guiding participants through a process to identify and release core emotions, thereby reducing stress and allowing for clearer, more effective decision-making. A key takeaway was recognising the negative impact of perfectionism on performance.
Speaking following the workshop, organiser Sinead Loughran said “It was inspiring to see our staff embrace these vital skills, thanks to the N-TUTORR team at DkIT for funding and support for these workshops and for their commitment to fostering a positive and resilient working environment for all staff.”
