N-TUTORR - December 2023
20 December 2023Considering Education for Sustainability at National Level
Education for Sustainability is a key, and central, theme of all aspects of the N-TUTORR project. In DkIT, we have both Fellowship projects and a Student Champion working in this space. On December 1st, N-TUTORR’s Student Empowerment Co-ordinator Angela Magennis represented DkIT at the ‘National Forum on Education for Sustainable Development’ held in TU Dublin.
SAVE THE DATES! ‘N-TUTORR Week’ coming soon
The DkIT N-TUTORR team extended a call for expressions of interest in organising an event as part of ‘N-TUTORR week’. During Feb 26th-March 1st, a series of events will be taking place between across all seven partner institutions. The goal is to support 5 events in DkIT during this week, and following the recent call, the N-TUTORR team received 27 applications for consideration - yet another indication of the high level of engagement and culture across our institution to include, engage with, and support others.
N-TUTORR’s Curriculum Framework
As part of the project’s stream 2, the N-TUTORR project is developing a series of guiding curriculum principles in addition to a series of tools to support staff (toolkits, resources, self-reflection frameworks). On December 8th, Ronan Bree and Arjan van Rossum participated in a national workshop held in the Spencer Hotel in Dublin around this aspect of the project. Progress across all partners is starting to really come together. We are really excited to continue developing these supports, as well as sharing with everyone once finalised.
Sharing Success in Digital Education
This month, DkIT and N-TUTORR were very well represented at the “Digital Education Conference 2023” held in SETU Waterford on the 12th-13th of December. Olya Antropova, Angela Magennis and Moira Maguire all presented aspects of N-TUTORR successes to date, in particular around engagement with Stream 1, and empowering learners across the sector.
Exploring AV Technologies to support learning and teaching.
Eugene Stewart and Ronan Bree from the N-TUTORR team were joined by Tony Richardson and NortechIT Solutions to travel to DCU’s School of Nursing and Human Sciences where they received a demonstration from Patrick Doyle of their impressive wireless, casting and sharing platform they have installed to support staff and students. The potential for this technology to support DkIT is evident and something the team are keen to explore further. We are very grateful to Patrick for his expertise and time. Another example of Irish HEI’s supporting each other for the good of our learners.
Also in December….
- Many congratulations to N-TUTORR team member Ciara O’Shea on recent her appointment to DkIT’s new Governing Body.
- Moira Maguire and Ronan Bree were in SETU Waterford campus to join the N-TUTORR Programme Steering Board, where progress national was highlighted. DkIT’s engagement metrics are well on track. For example, over 660 students have completed the Digital Badge on Academic Integrity thus far.
- Linkedin Learning access details were shared with all DkIT staff at the start of the month, with student access to follow in the new year. Thanks to Eugene Stewart and Ciara O’Shea for their work on this initiative.
On behalf of all the DkIT N-TUTORR team, Ronan would like to thank everyone who has supported, championed and engaged with the project thus far. We are very fortunate to have a wonderful team ethos across campus, with support for the team coming from every corner. Also, our Institute Level Steering Group have assisted immensely, and many thanks to all members for their ever-present support. Wishing all our students and staff a wonderful, fun-filled Christmas break. Exiting times and plans ahead for the N-TUTORR project in 2024!
