Games Development Student Gracie Awarded Prestigious Female Google Scholarship18 September 2023
Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) are proud to report that Gracie Chaudhary a third-year student in the BSc (Hons) Computing in Games Development was recently awarded a Generation Google Scholarship: for women in computer science in Ireland. This was a phenomenal achievement for Gracie which will see her receive financial support towards her education and additional support with workshops and career advice from Google.
The Generation Google Scholarship: for women in computer science was established to help students pursuing computer science degrees to excel in technology and become leaders in the field. The Scholarship is awarded based on the strength of each candidate's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, demonstrated leadership, and academic performance.
Gracie was one of 11 students nationally who were selected for this Generation Google Scholarship, she said “The scholarship is an amazing opportunity for me and my future. I am absolutely elated that I was selected”.
Gracie is pursuing a four-year BSc (Hons) Computing in Games Development, this course aims to produce graduate software developers capable of designing, building and maintaining software systems with a particular focus on computer games applications and the creative aspects of games development. Graduates of this course are in high demand in this industry recognised programme. The course offers computing competencies in software development and software engineering so graduates are suitable for employment in any software development role but will have also developed expertise in computer games development making them ideal for the role of games developers and for working in multidisciplinary games development teams.
