DkIT Welcomes IUT Le Havre Students!

DkIT Business Studies Department welcomed its French Erasmus partner college, IUT Le Harve to the Institute on 07th March. 20 French students from the Business faculty of the IUT and their 2 French Lecturers enjoyed a Welcome Day at DkIT, coordinated by French Lecturer, Mary Kennedy.

The students were greeted by Business Studies students and staff on arrival and were welcomed by Head of Department, Colin Cooney.

The French students presented intercultural projects they had prepared to Year 2 French students. International Office Intern, Duke Dumaplin took the students on a campus tour afterwards and for lunch, sponsored by the International Office.

Lecturer Vicky Leahy facilitated an Intercultural Workshop later in the day with the French and Irish students, followed by a Masterclass in Irish Dancing, arranged by the International Office.

The students thoroughly enjoyed their visit and activities and were very impressed with the excellent campus facilities and services at DkIT.

DkIT students organised a visit for the visiting students to the Spirit Store that evening to experience a traditional Irish pub.

DkIT School of Business and Humanities has been participating in the very successful intercultural exchange with the IUT Le Havre for many years now, with DkIT French language students making an annual visit in January to the IUT Le Havre, accompanied by their DkIT Language Lecturers.

The purpose of the exchange project is to promote international engagement and language-learning and to prepare students for Erasmus study abroad to France in Year 3.
