DkIT Students Connect with Future Employers
21 March 2024Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) are extremely proud of their strong student employability history, 91% of their graduates are in employment or further education within 6 months of graduating. The Institute would align this to many things including their strong and close ties to Industry in their region. Recently the award-winning Careers and Employability Centre hosted three exceptionally successful careers fairs on campus. The events which were held in conjunction with respective schools included a Veterinary Nursing event, a Creative Careers event and an event for the school of Business and Humanities.
Both regional and national employers were present to engage with students in terms of their opportunities, summer internships, graduate roles and graduate programmes.
Employers’ insights from their respective sectors were of key value with regard to the consultation element of the day, whereby Head of School and Heads of departments engaged with industry professionals in connection to programmatic review and development.
Students left the fair energized and motivated in terms of the many diverse and exciting opportunities that lie ahead for them, along with having forged new connections for their future success.
Catherine Staunton, Head of Careers & Employability said,
“We were delighted to recently host these three extremely successful Careers events on campus, as a community we are committed to ensuring our graduates are self-aware, self-resourceful and work ready. To do this, we work with students from first year through to graduation in the area of Employability skills and Student Work Placement and these Career’s fairs are a big part of our remit as it’s a great opportunity for students to talk directly to employers. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all the employers who attended the events and engaged our students with such positivity”.
The DkIT N-TUTORR project team which include Dr Ronan Bree and Ciara O’Shea sponsored the Creative Careers event and the Business and Humanities event.
