15 March 2022Dundalk Institute of Technology stands for peace and is absolutely against violence and aggression. We would like to offer continued support to students, staff and other stakeholders who are affected by the crisis.
We are delighted to announce a dedicated Red Cross donation site, just for the DkIT community, setup by our Pastoral Care Coordinator Alan Conlon and the DkIT Czech Society. The link can be found here: Red Cross Ireland DkIT Peace Walk.
Students
Our student services team, in particular our Pastoral Care Coordinator Alan Conlon, has already contacted and met with students enrolled in DkIT who we are aware are from Ukraine and Russia to reassure them of our concern for their wellbeing and apprise them of the supports available provided by DkIT. However there may be others that we have not identified. Please therefore any students who we have not been contacted to date who may be affected in any way please contact our Student Support team via our different support channels.
Staff
The DkIT Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is a confidential service designed to support all DkIT employees and their immediate family members (over 18) who may be affected by the current events in Ukraine. You can contact them by phone on Freephone 1800 995 955 or email at eap@vhics.ie.
Support
The DkIT Czech society are planning a Peace Walk organised for the 23rd of March, from the Canteen entrance at 12PM to walk around the perimeter of the pitches. The Czech society has organised volunteers to collect donations during the event. All funds raised are going towards the Irish Red Cross in their efforts to support Ukraine during the crisis. After the walk there will be tea/coffee set up outside the Whitaker theatre provided by Student Services. There be a charge €1.50 per drink and all funds will go towards Irish Red Cross.
If you would like to donate, DkIT would encourage donations be made through our official Red Cross donation link:

In summary we wish to be aware of any and all students and staff members affected so that we can continue to give support to them through this most difficult time and we hope for an immediate peaceful resolution to end this horrible and senseless violence on innocent people.
