DkIT Sports & Societies and Leinster Rugby Host the BearingPoint Future Stars 2022 events & awards ceremony

The 2022 BearingPoint Future Stars Awards Ceremony was hosted by Dundalk Institute of Technology (DKIT) & Leinster Rugby, the ceremony took place recently starting at DKIT Sport and finishing in Whitaker Theatre (DKIT CAMPUS).

DkIT Sports & Societies hosted the BearingPoint Future Stars 2022 on DKIT Campus & at our off campus State-Of-The-Art facilities in DKIT SPORT. Through this event recognize the outstanding work carried out in local schools and clubs within the North- East Region of Leinster and to identify emerging talent at u19 level.

Both boys & girls competed for a place on our team of the year through their performances and could win a customized O’Neill’s jersey. 



This year’s Boys Final was held in Dundalk RFC between Ardee Community College & St Pats Classical School Navan. St Pats were a polished outfit on the day and claimed the annual Boys Future Stars Trophy!

The girls Future Stars Team was selected through a way of blitz on campus in association with local Leinster Rugby Women’s Development officer Niall Kane. A Leinster Rugby X7’s Blitz took place and through their performances on the day,  15 girls were awarded their future star jerseys on the night of the awards.

The girl’s final was a Navan vs Dundalk affair as Mercy Navan took on St Vincent’s Dundalk in an awesome encounter which saw Mercy seal the victory.

On the night, Colm Finnegan IRFU Children and Youth Development Manager was MC.

Colm spoke about his pathway from student in Dkit to his current position in the IRFU, and how studying in Dkit contributed to his journey into professional sport.

Derek Crilly, DkIT Sports & Societies Officer spoke around the recent new rugby developments within the college

 “With the strengthen partnership between Leinster Rugby & DKIT with establishing DKIT as the new North East rugby hub for development squads  and the new rugby development role within DKIT that Tiernan has now taken up”  

On the Night Ireland & Leinster duo Ryan Baird and Will Connors handed out the customized O’Neill’s jerseys to those who were selected for the future stars teams.
