DkIT Software Development and Games Development Students Expo 2023
07 June 2023The Department of Visual and Human-Centred Computing hosted their annual 4th year project exhibition, Expo 2023, in conjunction with the recent Tech Careers Event on campus.
Expo 2023 saw a record number of students from the BSc (Hons) in Computing in Software Development and the BSc (Hons) in Computing in Games Development showcase the apps and games developed as part of the Collaborative Project module.
Each team developed their project from concept, in September 2022, through to the final release, in May 2023. Teams used an agile approach to development, using Scrumwise, and collaborating with Github. They received feedback throughout from a panel of lecturers and external collaborators.
On the morning of Expo, each team gave a 5-minute pitch to an industry-led panel of judges. The panel selected "Training Guru", an app providing the bridge between a Personal Trainer and their clients, as Best Project. Games Development student, Alexandra Connolly, was awarded Best Individual Student. Awards were presented by the Head of School of Informatics and Creative Arts, Prof. Fergal Mc Caffery.
Expo 2023 was a great success, highlighting and celebrating students’ hard work. For students themselves, it gave an opportunity to present their work to a wider audience, beyond their peers and collaborators.
