DkIT Hosts Free Spring Musical Concert

15 March 2024

The Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music at DkIT are hosting a Spring concert, featuring performances by students on their Music and Musical Theatre programmes on Thursday 21 March at 7pm in the Fr McNally Recital Room, Carroll Building. The repertoire for the concert will feature a mix of choral, Irish traditional music and musical theatre favourites.

Final year students on the BA (Hons) Music will perform a mix of traditional tunes and songs, including a homage to Dundalk’s own The Mary Wallopers. The group includes award-winning country music star Gavin Gribben and Jessica Muldrew, who recently starred in the production Brigid, Lady of Light in An Táin Arts Centre.

Students on the BA Musical Theatre will perform selections from Mean Girls, Sweeney Todd and Spamalot. This exciting new programme is building towards their first major production in 2025.

The choir, which brings together students from across the Department, will perform arrangements of popular songs including Lean On Me, Killing Me Softly and La La Land. They have been working on a variety of projects with students in music production this semester and are looking forward to performing live for this event.

The Spring concert is one of the highlights of the second semester activities and students are really looking forward to sharing their musical learning journey.
