DkIT Graduates Launches Second EP “Pagan Queen”

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) are delighted to report that two of their graduates have recently launched an EP as part of singer-songwriters Shock Sorrow (aka Keith Caffrey and Steff Caffrey). Steff was a first-class honours graduate from the BA (Hons) Audio and Music Production programme and went on to complete a Masters by Research on internationally successful Dundalk band The Corrs. Keith is a graduate of the BA Business Management and co-producer on the album, which was mastered by the award-winning Siegfried Meier at Beach Road Studio, Canada. This is Shock Sorrow’s second EP and is entitled “Pagan Queen” which is out now with the promotional music video “Samhain.



The EP serves as a milestone in the journey of overcoming tragic personal loss, revealing light, optimism and hope after profound darkness and pain. “Pagan Queen” furthers the duo’s signature sound established on their debut “The Heart Bleeds” which has amassed over 49,000 streams on Spotify to date. Shock Sorrow’s music is a hybrid of rock, alternative and metal with autobiographical lyrics relating to writer Keith Caffrey’s personal experiences.

Steff Caffrey says about “Pagan Queen”-

“There is always a beautiful light to be found at the end of the tunnel. I loved producing this EP and mirroring Keith Caffrey’s sense of hopefulness, inner strength and perseverance through my music production aesthetics. The emotional content on this record is very real and I’m excited for everyone to listen to it and to connect with it”.

Steff Caffrey is a multi-instrumentalist and music producer from Drogheda, Co. Louth with a portfolio of recorded works ranging from rock, electronic, folk, and Irish traditional music. Her passion for the artistry of music production and music performance facilitates her role in the Irish music industry as a music producer and sound engineer, working with the Oriel Traditional Orchestra, Na Píobairí Uilleann and Fair Plé amongst others. Steff was co-founder and lead guitarist of all-female rock outfit Black Daisy until 2009.

Keith Caffrey is a vocalist and guitarist from Drogheda, Co. Louth who has toured Europe extensively with previous metal band Black Svan in support of such bands as Diamond Head, Fozzy and Stuck Mojo. As a key partisan of Ireland’s heavy metal scene over the last 15 years, Keith’s creative outputs include multiple album recordings, single releases, music videos and collaborations with European artists. His creative skills as a lyricist, guitarist and visual artist, combine to form an imaginative and talented songwriter, while his management skills complement his experiences in the music industry to guide Shock Sorrow toward a successful future.
