The SOCIETY Research Group, DkIT is seeking a suitable candidate for fully funded doctoral research in the area of social sciences and/or social inclusion and diversity, under the HEA Landscape funding initiative.

Applicants should have excellent academic research and writing skills and be able to demonstrate an interest in social science research. The suitable applicant will hold a relevant higher degree (usually Master’s degree) and be eligible to enrol as a doctoral student in DkIT in 2020. The obligations of the applicant will be to conduct research in a doctoral project in the chosen field and take part in the training activities specified by DkIT Research Office.

Funding

The successful candidate shall receive a postgraduate stipend of €16,000 per annum, plus fees and a contribution to their direct research project costs. The duration of the PhD studentship is 3 years. Terms and conditions will apply.

The successful applicant will be registered as full time postgraduate research student in the DCU-DkIT Graduate School. This PhD position will be located on the DkIT campus and the PhD Degree will be awarded by Dublin City University.

The SOCIETY Research Group is an inter-disciplinary funded research group in Dundalk Institute of Technology centred in social science research which seeks to examine human behaviour. Its research bridges the gap between theory and practice in the philosophical investigation of sociology by examining new connections between practical and theoretical social science. The research group includes faculty from numerous disciplines such as sociology (including education and gender studies), social policy, youth work, psychology, economics and politics.
