DkIT Accounting Students Welcome Professor David Gibson
20 February 2025DkIT were delighted to welcome Professor David Gibson OBE , author of The E-Factor, The 21st Century Guide to Entrepreneurial Thinking to speak at the DKIT Annual Accounting Guest Lecture. Prof. Gibson spoke with the Bachelor of Business (Hons), and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Accounting and Finance students, from the Department of Management and Financial Studies, about the core qualities that define successful entrepreneurs.
David Gibson OBE is an entrepreneur with strong experience of practical entrepreneurship and higher education. With over twenty years of teaching and training experience he has won a ‘National Teaching Fellowship’ was awarded the Higher Education Authority’s ‘Most Innovative Educator in the UK’.
He defined the E-factor as a model of entrepreneur and innovation skills with 8 Efactor competencies. During his engaging guest lecture, he gave an account of his career to date and shared insights from his book, focusing on these eight key characteristics every entrepreneur should embody.
David’s presentation not only brought these traits to life but also sparked great discussions on how students can start building them in their entrepreneurial journeys. It was an inspiring session with plenty of Q&A from the students, and all present were grateful for his valuable advice and time. We were also delighted to welcome past BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance graduate Thomas McDonagh, Director, UHY Farrelly, Dawe White who was in attendance.
