Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music students attend Output Music Conference in Belfast

03 March 2017

Staff and Students from the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in the Production of Music and Audio, the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Film ad TV production and the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Applied Music were delighted to be given the opportunity to take their learning outside of the Institute and go on a field trip on Thursday the 17th February.   Over 40 second, third and fourth-year students attended the Output Music Conference in the Mac theatre in Belfast. One of the highlights of the day was the music production master class where Rob Ellis (longterm PJ Harvey collaborator and producer), Liam Howe (producer Lana Del Ray, Ellie Goulding, and FKA Twigs) and Rocky O'Reilly (Start Together Studios) demonstrated some of their award-winning production techniques.

Students also attended lectures and workshops on sound design and music for the Playstation game Shadow of the Beast, and a co –writing masterclass by John Saunderson, of Notting Hill Music, London. The full day of activities ensured that the trip was a fantastic opportunity for students and staff alike to hear from and network with industry experts working at the cutting edge of the Music Industry in both Ireland and the UK.

The opportunity to attend events such as Output and meet with key industry professionals is an important dimension of the programmes of study in the Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music.
