Department of Creative Arts, Media & Music Launch Performance & Events Series

21 February 2020

The Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music have launched their Semester 2 Performance and Event Series.

The series includes performances, showcases and exhibitions featuring the work of students across a variety of programmes in the Department. The opportunity to showcase students learning is an important part of the ethos in the Department and an opportunity to engage with our industry and community partners. We are very proud of work completed by our students and our showcases and exhibitions offer the students the opportunity to celebrate their acheivements with their community.

Our performance and event series also includes some of the outreach activities undertaken by the Department this semester including a series of Irish singing and dance workshops funded by Seachtain na Gaeilge le Engergia as part of the national Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations across the country. We recognise the importance of nurturing an interest in music from a young age and are delighted to have the opportunity to work with many primary school chilren. We are cognisant of our role in enabling the creative potential of every child as outlined by the Government funded Creative Ireland programme.

A number of secondary schools will attend the matinee performances by our Music Theatre group on the BA (Hons) Music and the theatre students on the BA Theatre Film Practice. Our Music students are also delighted to be returning to Carlingford Heritage Centre for our Spring Choral Concert for a collaborative concert with Cór Chairlinne.

Our film and gradaute showcases by our Film and Creative Media graduates represent the diverse creative skills of our students and Fís is an excellent opportunity for both industry leaders and local communities to come together and enjoy creativity and the arts in the creative hub of the Carroll Building at Dundalk Institute of Technology.

Admission is free to all events and booking is necessary - creativearts@dkit.ie or 0429370280.
