Chalk On the Wall Productions
02 October 2024Dundalk Institute of Technology are delighted to update on the fantastic graduate collaboration with An Táin Arts Centre which resulted in Chalk on the Wall Productions as the Company in Residence.
Chalk on the Wall Productions, is comprised of graduating students from Dundalk Institute of Technology’s Drama and Performance and Theatre and Film Practice courses. The group consists of six members of Dean Maguire, Eileen Gomez, Eleanor Dempsey, Yasmin Hanratty , Klaudia Bakalarczyk and Shane Mc Cabe, all graduating students from DkIT’s Drama and Performance and Theatre and Film Practice courses.
This residency is the first of its kind, established through a collaboration between An Táin and DKIT’s Theatre and Film Programme, with the goal of supporting emerging artists. The group receive invaluable support and mentorship from both DKIT and An Táin as we develop our professional careers in theatre. Chalk on the Wall is mentored by Laura Bowler (Programme Director, Theatre and Film, DKIT) and Paul Hayes (Director, An Táin Arts Centre).
The team took part in Brigid and Cu and the League of Legends: Written by Shane McCabe, this play was part of An Táin's Anaverna show and a highlight of their 10th-anniversary celebrations with 16 shows running over five days in August.
The group are working on their up and coming play "IMPACT" which runs Nov 28th - Nov 30th.
In this newly devised original play, Chalk on the Wall Productions explores the pressing challenges faced by Irish road users today, revealing the human cost behind the stark statistics. Through a heartfelt narrative this play weaves together poignant stories of those forever changed by tragic accidents, offering a vivid portrayal of the real personal impact of these collisions and the individuals involved who have had their lives changed forever in a split second.
