A warm DkIT welcome for our new International students

16 October 2018

Each year DkIT warmly welcomes our cohort of international students who join the campus from countries across the globe. The same was true of our new 2018/19 group of international students, who this year were welcomed to the college through a series of International Welcome Days, hosted by the DkIT International Office.

This year’s new DkIT international students hail from an array of countries, including China, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Brazil, Argentina, Oman, Nigeria, Jordan, and the USA. Joining the students for the Welcome Days were 80 Erasmus students from the Institute’s partner universities in France, Germany, Spain, Finland, Portugal, Romania and Denmark.

The itinerary included Welcome Talks by the International Office and Student Services Team, with DkIT International Ambassadors providing a guided Campus Tour and offering practical tips on student life in Dundalk.

Lunch was sponsored by the DkIT International Office, with the Dundalk Tourist Office and Louth Volunteer Service in attendance, giving new students a chance to find out about Volunteer projects in Dundalk, and sight-seeing opportunities in the Northeast. Ice-breaker games on Day 2 gave the students a chance to get to know one another in a fun setting. The busy itinerary drew to a close with a visit to DkIT Sports and a trip to Carlingford, with a guided tour of the village.

Once again, the DkIT International Office and wider DkIT community would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our international students. We look forward to supporting you and watching you succeed throughout your time with us in Ireland.
