The DkIT Music Theatre Group are currently busy with final preparations for their forthcoming production. Performances of ‘In Great Company’ will take place on Thursday 25th February and Friday 26th February at7pm in the MacAnna Theatre, DkIT with a special matinee performance for schools on Wednesday morning which is already booked out!

Phil Harrison presents The Good Man in the Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music Visiting Guest Series
The Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music Visiting Guest Series recommences on Thursday 18 February 2016 at 2pm in P1081 with a screening and discussion with Phil Harrison entitled: ‘Feature Film Production: The Good Man’. Creative Media at DkIT has a central focus on exploring the ways in which research informs practice. In a workshop that will be of particular interest to filmmakers, Phil brings his expertise in writing and directing transnational feature films.

This event is called Unplugged on Campus Week and will involve multiple concerts taking place in intimate and unexpected venues across campus to promote up-and-coming talent at DkIT.

Change the record, change the world!
The Mac Anna Theatre at Dundalk Institute of Technology was filled to capacity for an evening of original songs and music composed as part of an innovative project hosted by the Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music at DkIT. The very special concert on the eve of the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities brought together a wonderful and diverse group of artists from RehabCare, DkIT, Coláiste Rís and the wider community. The event was hosted by Senator Mary Moran, spokesperson on Education, Disability, Mental Health and Equality.

As part of the Music Masterclass series, the Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music is pleased to present guest artist Virginia Kerr, international soprano and expert on musical performance anxiety, next Thursday, 3 December in the Mac Anna Theatre from 2-3.30pm. Virginia will be presenting a lecture-demonstration on performance anxiety and health for musicians

Hear Our Voices
Music is full of double acts. Lennon and McCartney shouted for ‘Help!’, Jagger and Richards wanted satisfaction while Benny and Bjorn just said ‘thank you for the music’. The latest musical partnership to hit Dundalk will see almost fifty performers from Dundalk Institute of Technology’s BA (Hons) Applied Music programme and RehabCare Resource Centre, Carrol Village taking the stage at the Mac Anna Theatre, DkIT. This evening of original songs and music, which they have written together over the last two months, takes place on Wednesday 2 December at 7pm.

As part of the Ceol Oirghialla Music Masterclass series, the Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music is pleased to present guest artist Dr Peter Moran this Thursday, 12 November 2015 in the Mac Anna Theatre from 2.00pm-3.30pm. Dr Moran will be presenting a lecture-demonstration in the Javanese gamelan and its music.

Successful CMC Music Marathon at DkIT Highlights Ireland’s Creative Talents
On Thursday November 5th, the Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music at DkIT hosted the Contemporary Music Centre's 2015 New Music Marathon. Participants attended from all over Ireland and took part in two concerts of fresh, inspiring new music from the next generation of Irish composers. The concerts featured composers and performers from the University of Ulster, Magee (Derry); NUI Maynooth; University of Limerick (UL) and here at DkIT.
